1. Skill Hull upgrades - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Now that frigates no longer fire instakilling cruise missiles, it's quite handy for frigate combat, too. If you've trained this skill to 4, you get 20% extra armor for free. A frigate with 200 armor all of a sudden has 240, which is quite a nice b...

2. New and Intaki... EW usefulness? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Edited by: Shintoko Akahoshi on 18/06/2004 02:43:45 If you've just started out, you should stick to mining in high-security space (if any of the strip miners have left ore there... Grrr...), and you probably won't encounter any dangers. As you...

3. IS it possible to make money just trading? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Trading requires dedication and time, mostly in researching the markets and devising trade routes, but it can be done. Jericho Fraction has a number of very successful traders who have made billions (literally) of isk moving things from one spot t...

4. I'm getting seasick... - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Some of them don't actually rock in space. The Breacher, for instance, sits there solidly like the fragile scrapheap of death that it is. There's no meaning to life when you cling only to common sense

5. What is the best thing to have fun as new player - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
For a Merlin, you should probably start hunting npc in a 0.6 system. Do it until there is no challenge, then go to a 0.5 system. Etc, etc, etc... You won't make 3 million isk very quickly, but you'll learn how to hunt npcs. For making that sort o...

8. Help with 150 railgun - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
As an addition to what everyone else is saying, I'll add that there are two different types of hybrid weapons: Railguns and blasters. Railguns are distance weapons, while blasters are for close in work. Blasters typically deliver about twice the d...

9. What's the point of EVE? Is this supposed to be fun? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
So, what is it you want to do in the game? People create and destroy regional alliances and governments. People become pirates and make their living that way. People become mercenaries, or terrorists, or activists, or journalists, and do all of...

12. Was killed mining in 1.0 space - why? - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
You might have been attacked by a pirate, as others have noted above. You might instead have been the victim of a terrorist attack, though. Some Caldari corporations (notably "The Lame Ducks") engage in attacks on Gallente miners in high-security ...

14. Reply to Miso''s "Idiot''s Guide" - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]

15. Noob here - question about attributes and charisma - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
The thing is, attributes affect how fast you train, but they don't limit how much you can train, nor do they affect how you play. "Metagame" aspects (things outside of the mechanical aspects of the game) count for a great deal in the game. Great...

16. Smuggler's Moon - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Sure there might not be smuggling per se. You could try to make a career as a courier/blockade runner. If pirates tend to camp a gate along the only path from where someone hunts and where they sell their loot, they might be willing to pay you to ...

17. Orbit/Keep@Distance combat - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Actually, even if you try to do an "orbit" with the "current distance" selection, you'll still usually get that rubber band/wallowing effect. I've occasionally gotten it to work right, but only about 10% of the time. I typically just manually clic...

18. Orbit/Keep@Distance combat - in EVE New Citizens Q&A [original thread]
Keep in mind that the "orbit" feature in Eve is pretty broken. Right now it just makes you travel in a straight line until you reach orbital distance, and then you turn 90 degrees and start your orbit. Your flight path ends up looking like a lolip...
